Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
