19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of that year.
The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his skill to play at the top level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four early chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
